What to Expect from Your Colour Mapping Session

Every session is a relaxed, collaborative process,  part design consultation, part creative discovery.
Here’s how it works and what I take into consideration:

Before the Session

1. Colour Test
You’ll receive a short online test that explores your instinctive colour preferences — the hues that live in your memories and evoke positive emotions.
It works on a subconscious level, so you’ll make choices quickly without overthinking. It takes around 10 minutes, and the results give us a powerful foundation for our work together.

2. Quick Questionnaire
Next, I’ll send you a short questionnaire about your home, lifestyle, and style preferences — how you’d like your rooms to feel, what colours attract you, and what atmosphere you want to create.
It helps me tailor the session to you.

During the Session
(Home Visit or Online)

We’ll walk through your space — in person or virtually — and explore how colour, light, and architecture interact.
Here’s what we’ll look at together:

  • Natural light and sun direction

  • Artificial light and bulb temperature

  • Undertones of materials that will stay (flooring, stone, furniture)

  • Room shape, size, and proportions

  • Architectural features worth enhancing

  • Adjoining rooms and sightlines (for flow and harmony)

  • How and when you use the space

  • How you want to feel in the room

  • Your preferred design style

Using large colour swatches (currently Farrow & Ball), we’ll explore combinations and agree on one to three palette directions.
We may also discuss wallpaper, fabrics, and patterns that complement your choices.

After the Session

You’ll receive a personalised Colour Plan that includes:

  • Selected colours with paint codes and finishes

  • Collage-style visuals showing how to use them in your space

  • Example wallpapers and fabrics (if relevant)

  • A short “colour story” explaining why each choice works for your home

  • Additional guidance on lighting or layout, if needed

If you wish, I can also:

  • Calculate paint quantities

  • Arrange paint delivery (colour-matched in high-quality finishes)

  • Schedule a follow-up visit to review test patches on your walls (optional add-on)

Finally, I’ll ask for your feedback and photos once your new palette comes to life — my favourite part of the process!
